IDF, the leather and fur fair held in Istanbul from 17 to 19 January confirmed the central role that the Turkish leather industry plays on the international scene and, above all, enjoyed great success as regards visitors and exhibitors, with double the number of buyers and international firms who chose this fair as a showcase.
At this edition, in particular, there was a very welcome presence of many visitors from Japan, a market that together with China, is a target of Turkey for some time now. As Lemi Tolunay, chairman of the Leather Promotion Group, pointed out: «Turkey is now one of the most important producers of leather and furs, thanks to the attention our firms pay to technological research, the quality of products and design».
As every year all efforts were made to ensure the fair acted as a reference point for the whole sector, hosting firms representing the entire trade. During the event important meetings were arranged between major organizations in the sector, of which the central theme was the future development of an eco-friendly industry.
