There are great expectations for the coming edition of IDF, the Istanbul leather fair due to take place from 21 to 23 November next, with lots of novelties.

This 8th edition will be really special, thanks to the events and initiatives arranged to give the fair new contents

announced Ms Ruken Mizrakli, for some months now president of Türdev, the foundation that unites all the Turkish leather associations, whose main mission is to promote the sector on international markets.

“The innovations have been conceived on the basis of a key concept entitled Dreamcatchers – continued the Turkish entrepreneur – “As well as the fashion shows featuring leathers, those present can visit a trends area, a space dedicated to the designers’ contest and the Pop-up Cinema which will screen runway shows of leading Turkish designers of the moment.
We are confident that trade members will appreciate also White Box, a space dedicated to the connection between art and leather which will feature various artists including major painters and sculptors invited to try their hand in the world of leather.
The noteworthy promotion initiatives include a program for incoming buyers that should encourage the attendance of many potential new clients from all over the world.

But what is the attitude of the trade towards the new edition of the fair?
“Year by year the appeal of Turkish leather products increases on the world market” – continued Ms Ruken Mizrakli – “but what worries entrepreneurs at the moment is the continual rise in prices of raw hides that naturally reduce the profit margins of firms”

A reminder that the last edition of IDF saw a record attendance of 12,473 visitors from 64 countries.
