Beijing International Fur and Leather Products Exhibition (BIFE) was held last January 16th-19th on two floors of the China National Convention Center, part of a vast complex built for the 2008 Olympics. This exhibition is one of the oldest in the world and has been bringing together guests from across the globe for 44 years. It is organized under the auspices of China’s Ministry of Trade with the assistance of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA) and sponsored by the China National Native Produce & Animal By-Products Import & Export Corporation and Sundry Advertising and Exhibition Co., Ltd.
According to the organizers, foreign companies accounted for a third of exhibitors, including well known auctions house such as Kopenhagen Fur, NAFA and SAGA FURS. The 150 exhibitors were mainly Chinese producers who welcomed their international hosts, especially from Russia. At the same time, most active visitors are those representing the domestic market sector.

This year’s exhibition was characterized by a comprehensive business program. The most interesting and unusual event was the interactive platform for international communication of the industry’s professionals and a wider group of natural fur fans dubbed ‘Discover the World with Thomas’. Besides, the very packed first day featured a Gala, the Asia Youth Fur Design Competition final, announcement of winners of the NAFA Cup China International Youth Fur Design Competition and a press conference dedicated to the certification of the first fur farms in China.
