The season of fur…
…this is how the 2016-17 autumn/winter will be remembered. According to IFF data, around 70% of the runway collections featured fur garments. Buyers and fashionistas have embraced the trend with enthusiasm: the new fur creations have a young, modern taste, often with a mix of fine wool or suede, a nice range of new features compared to the “classic.” According to data from the Italian Fur Association, in 2015 fur coats and jackets accounted for 60% of the Italian production, while accessories and inserts in couture garments and accessories covered 20%… and the trend shows no sign of stopping. Then, if we add stoles, hats, gloves, clutch bags, key chains and the full range of accessories that dangle from bags these days, the confirmation is undeniable.
As we have seen for a few seasons now, young designers have welcomed fur as a material that can be used to create and innovate with excellent results. This is also demonstrated by the number of high- quality entries in the REMIX competition sponsored by the International Fur Federation with Vogue Talents, which saw the participation of designers from around the world.
Fur and leather – to create various kinds of clothing and accessories of every type – are the materials of the moment, even in unexpected colours. Hues take centre stage in the creations brought to the runways by big brands: going beyond the classic and ubiquitous black and white, they have proposed a series of bright and vivid shades that play with fashion, combining it to everyday outfits.
