The historic brand from Borgosesia (NO) is synonymous with timeless elegance, characterised by absolute attention to detail, precious materials and contemporary design. The inspiration for Agnona’s Pre-Fall collection by the creative director Simon Holloway came from the recent exhibition “Making Her Self Up” held at the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, which showcased some of Frida Kahlo’s private belongings, revealing both the strength and fragility of the artist’s identity. Despite her impaired physical condition, the bright lipsticks and nail polish, perfume bottles and powder compacts spoke of her refusal to abandon the seductive power of her femininity. The shades of plum, rosewood, amber rose and terracotta of the collection's palette are displayed with gentle sophistication, combined with darker tones of charcoal and smoky quartz, well calibrated to accentuate the luxurious feel of materials such as cashmere, alpaca, vicuña, wool and gauze mohair, zibeline flannels, nappa and shearling. The clean cuts and the modern and balanced take on volumes and proportions are a leit motifs in the collection, together with an easywear attitude. Double-layered cashmere coats are worn over loose cowl-neck sweaters and wide-leg trousers or elongated V-necks. Masculine tailoring is evident on herringbone coats and double-breasted peacoats. Knitwear is also the richest, like the ribbed-knit cashmere cape sumptuously trimmed in astrakan. The new collection offers a variety of must-have outwear and – in the brand’s philosophy – embraces the heritage and culture of an extremely chic Italian style.
